No riding on the footpath. And on the footbridge? The foreshore promenade? Gravel walkways? Dismount perhaps would’ve been sufficient?

Thank you to Rod Hardy and Bryan & Penny Mears for sharing the cheer at our end-of-year catch up before the Christmas and New Year celebrations, and to y’all who made it to our gathering at the park for sharing time, energy and abundance. We had a great turnout and great weather! (View some of the photos taken here. You’ll also find on there information on the locally-sourced roasts and dipping sauce…)

Next community event you may want to attend is We-Akon Dilinja at Alfred Square on Sunday 26 January. See you there from 5.30am for a moment of reflection and solidarity, before kicking off with the collective Australia Day barbecues.

Incidentally will the alcohol ban on our public spaces be lifted for this day? With the weekend+public holiday surcharge on the 26th at all hospitality venues, it’s bound to be a very sobering Australia Day. If we can’t have a drink or a few at our public parks, gardens and beaches on our national public holiday while we put the barbie on, we are getting it wrong—it’s behaviour that needs to be kept in line, not the cheers.

***We-Akon Dilinja is hosted by the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council, in partnership with City of Port Phillip. All are welcome to attend.***
